FINALLY

No, this post isn't referring to the end of my freshman year–I'm not quite there yet. 

I'm referring to the fact that I've finally come across a song with my name in it. 

Not just any kind of song, but a song that's actually named "Amanda." For a while, I've always been entertained by songs that have people's names in them, especially when I get to know people with those names (e.g., "Me and Julio down by the schoolyard"). It's just a thing I have with bursting spontaneously into song; songs with names and knowing people with those names just gives me another excuse to do it. 

It's kind of a funny story how I came across this song. My iPod hasn't been working (perhaps it's time to retire it after 5 years...), so I've been looking to my phone for portable music instead. Since I have the app TuneIn Radio installed, I have access to any radio station in the world. I looked for my usual German favorite, Antenne Bayern, and instead of going to the sub-station for Top 40 hits, I was intrigued by one of the stations whose preview said a song named Amanda by a group called Boston was playing. Huh. I clicked on it, it having turned out to be playing on Antenne Bayern's love song station, and was suddenly attacked by noises that sounded like classic 80s songs. You know, the typical ultra-dramatic cheesy 80s kind of tune. Have a listen.

Although I'm not necessarily one to voluntarily listen to music from the 80s, I am highly entertained by this song. It's really rather excessive, but somehow I'm flattered by it. It's nice to know that songs with my name do exist. Perhaps one day I'll meet someone who is as amused by songs containing people's names as I am who'll bring it up with me? Time will tell.
